PRANAYAMA & MEDITATION CLASS // Join me on Monday 8th February, 7PM - 8PM via Zoom // £5. Discover the power of the breath and its effects on our thoughts and emotions within this calming and nourishing 1 hour class via Zoom. WHAT IS PRANAYAMA? // Pranayama is the yogic term for controlling the breath and connects the mind, body and spirit through various breathing techniques, which can bring a feeling of balance, rejuvenation and relaxation. Prana means energy or life force. Learning to direct and control prana in the body through breathing exercises and meditation (dhyana) is a crucial aspect in yoga and forms 2 of the '8 Limbs of Yoga’ Patanjali’s yogic philosophy. Research shows that the benefits of Pranayama:

  • Decreases stress by calming the nervous system

  • Improves sleep quality

  • Higher levels of mindfulness

  • Helps anxiety levels

  • Improves lung function

  • Oxygenates the body

WHAT TO BRING // No fancy yoga mats needed, find a place that's comfortable to sit and also lie down if you choose. If sat cross legged, you may want to support your knees and buttocks with cushions or bolsters. Wear comfortable clothing and layers, loungewear and PJ's encouraged. A snuggly blanket. Water or herbal tea for hydration. Make your space as cosy as you wish; light a candle, incense or use relaxing aromatherapy oils such as lavender, rose, clary sage or chamomile to enhance your environment.
