WHAT IS YOGA?
Yoga is an ancient Indian spiritual practice. The word yoga means union (the word yoga originated from the Eastern root word in Sanskrit: jugit and the West understand it from the Latin word ‘yoke’). It is the union of the individuals consciousness with the infinite consciousness.
Yoga explores your dimensions, depth, nature and potential as a human being. By practicing yoga, it allows us to have a deeper connection to ourselves whilst bringing harmony to every facet of our lives.
Yoga establishes an aligned relationship between the mind, body and spirit. Helping to bring awareness through the '8 Limbs of Yoga', it can allow yourself to experience your original, harmonious Self.
Yoga has many heath benefits including stress management, improved respiration, energy and vitality. I prefer to take a holistic and gentle approach and tailor my classes to the individual, whilst linking into the seasons and ancient Ayurvedic knowledge. I offer regular Yoga group classes for adults in Hertfordshire and online via Zoom.
MEDITATION & YOGA NIDRA
Meditation (Dhyana) helps to clear and focus the mind, whilst bringing the body back into a relaxed, rejuvenated and mindful state. I truly love how versatile meditation can be; whatever you're feeling, there's a meditation for you.
I currently teach Yoga meditations, which incorporate different combinations of mudras (hand and finger gestures), drishti (eye-focus), pranayama (breath work) and sometimes mantras, as well as Yoga Nidra techniques. Yoga Nidra (yogic or dynamic sleep) is a guided meditation practice for all abilities and ages, and is a wonderful way to relieve stress.
CHILDREN'S & TEENS YOGA
From as early as 3 years old, children can enjoy the benefits of yoga and have fun with movement. Typically, a children's and teens yoga class incorporates asanas (yoga postures), balance exercises, coordination exercises, motor development games, discussion groups, meditations, mantra and much more.
Teen yoga classes are a fantastic opportunity for teenagers to learn the basics of yoga philosophy and to develop a yogic 'tool kit' to help and support them with lifes ups and downs. Regular teen classes coming soon in Hertfordshire.
I offer 1-2-1 Yoga, meditation and sound bath sessions, tailored to support you or to guide you towards reaching your goals - including stress management, increasing vitality or improving sleep and much more.
Or if you find that my current regular class times aren't suitable, booking a 1-2-1 or private group session is a great solution to fitting in a regular yoga practice or gong bath. Prices start from £25.
